Our hot Summer months are shortly coming to a close and that means Fall is headed our way. As our days grow shorter and our nights seem longer, it's time to start thinking about how we can make our homes feel warm and inviting this Fall season.
One way to accomplish this is by adding soft decorative lighting inside and out.

One of my favorite ways to use crochet as a lighting fixture is by designing a round shaped ball. Stiffen the ball with Elmer's school glue then let it harden. Once harden, it can be used as a little lantern. Here is a sample by VitaLights which shows how you can use these little lanterns around the house.
There are lots of ways to you can easily make these similar little lanterns yourself. Simply place string or jute into 2 parts glue and 1 part water, this will create a stiffening solution. Wrap your glued dipped string around an inflated balloon several times and let dry. Once completely dry, pop and remove the balloon. Your little string ball lantern should be very stiff and ready to place onto your stringed lights.
There many tutorials on how to make this similar patterned string lantern
on Pinterest and YouTube.
Anyway you choose to create these little lighted lanterns, they will always look very pretty around the home.

Crocheted chandeliers are a great way to bring light into the home by placing them in different corners of a room, creating a cozy and peaceful nook. When outdoors try hanging a stunning crocheted chandelier from a tree branch or under a pergola to create soft accent lighting while enjoying those crisp cool nights.
